Tips for the Yacht Check-in
The first day of your yacht vacation in the Mediterranean doesn't just begin when you set sail – it starts with the Check-In at the charter base. To ensure a smooth start to your journey with Sun Charter, we have compiled practical tips for you. Whether you start your yacht charter in Spain, Italy or Greece: With the right preparation, the check-in becomes a relaxed introduction to your trip. Find out which documents you need, how the boat handover works, and what to pay attention to upon arrival – for a successful start to your sailing vacation in the Mediterranean.
After full payment of your booking, you will receive your boarding pass from Sun Charter. It includes all important information about your charter destination, base contact details, travel tips, parking options, supermarket, payment methods, and more.
Please read the boarding pass carefully before your trip – even if you already have experience with Sun Charter. Changes on site (such as a new office location) are always possible. Being well-informed saves unnecessary searching.
The crew list should be fully completed at least one week before the start of the trip – ideally right after booking. You will receive the link to the online crew list after your booking, with each payment confirmation, and again with the boarding pass.
Please ensure the completeness and accuracy of the information – only then can the check-in proceed quickly and smoothly. The crew list is submitted to the authorities on the check-in day, so correct information is essential.
Note: If you have booked a skipper through Sun Charter, they will be entered by our base and do not need to appear separately on the crew list.
Please indicate your planned arrival time in the crew list. This helps our base to optimally coordinate cleaning and technical checks. However, this does not mean that the ship will be ready for occupancy at that time.
An early check-in can be booked for an additional fee – please note that availability is limited.
If you are delayed, please inform the base in a timely manner – contact details can be found in the boarding pass. In case of very late arrival, check-in may take place the next day.

Our team warmly welcomes you and ensures that you feel at home right away. While we safely bring your luggage on board, you will receive a brief introduction to the most important procedures. This is followed by the briefing, where we go through all relevant information about the ship, the route, and safety together. This way, you start your sailing adventure well-prepared.
Here is the checklist for your arrival at the base
Once the ship is cleaned and prepared, the technical check-in begins. The skipper and the ship supervisor board, while the crew relaxes – e.g., with a drink at the marina bar. The luggage initially remains in the car or can be safely stored in the office if traveling by plane.
The skipper receives a checklist, with which he checks the ship together with the base staff. Questions and any defects are noted and then reviewed together with a technician.
Why can there be waiting times during the technical check-in?
During the high season, there may be short delays, especially if major repairs are needed on other yachts. Our teams do their best to ensure all crews can start on time – we ask for your understanding.
Tip: In the meantime, after consulting with the office, the refrigerator can already be stocked with provisions – especially important in summer.
